ViewSonic VX1932wm-LED 19-Inch WLED-Backlit Energy Efficient LCD Monitor

My 19-inch Hyundai monitor died last week after four years (failed circuit board - not economical to repair), so I needed a replacement. The old monitor was SXGA (1280x1024), and I was hoping to move up to HD (1920x1080). However, my graphics chips won't support HD resolution, and my power supply won't support a new graphics card. So I confined my search to SXGA-class monitors. This one caught my eye, mostly because of the LED backlight (no CCFL to burn out) and claimed energy efficiency (15 watts, compared to 45 watts for the deceased Hyundai). It's not exactly SXGA, being slightly wider and shorter (1440x900). The total pixel count is about 1% less than SXGA, so I didn't think I'd be sacrificing much. This monitor is great! I watch a lot of streaming videos off of the internet and the picture quality is top notch! The pictures are sharp, the colors are clear and crisp, and the black and white contrast is excellent. The best characteristics of the monitor is its low energy use and the fact that it does not heat up while I am doing work on my computer or watching videos. Viewing the monitor for extended periods is easy on the eyes, very little eye strain. Size wise the monitor is about 1.5 inches in depth and overall the monitor hardly takes up any space on my desk. I highly recommend this monitor.

I am really satisfied with this product, but it would be inaccurate for me to exclude it's faults as well as its strengths, I'll leave the best for last and start with the bad...

Cons:
*The OSD Monitor Controls are a bit tedious.
*It has a conserve nrg setting that dims/brightens depending on what's displayed,this gets annoying, so I leave it off.
*Integrated speakers are okay at low volumes, useless otherwise.

Pros:
* It uses about the same amt of energy as your efficient fluorescent light bulbs. (about 14-15 watts)
* It can get brighter than your old lcd and crt monitors, which I like for Gaming (since it is too dark to see anything in those undead dungeons sometimes!)
* It has both DVI and VGA plugs included so there shouldn't be any problems connecting it to your graphics card.
* Very sleek appearance in black
* Clear Wide Screen Picture, Great for movies or Hulu
