It is the most incredible monitor I've ever seen. You can tell it really is a professional-grade monitor and is worth the extra cost. I would definitely recommend it if you are a gamer, work with digital photos, or want to watch DVDs on your computer... but, if you buy online, be careful to buy from a reputable dealer like Amazon who will accept defective returns without a restocking fee.
I'm using the DVI hookup and the picture is incredibly sharp, clear, and 'pure.' There is absolutely none of the flicker or 'sparkly-dancing-pixel' business that used to bug me on CRT monitors. The screen is huge, and I can swivel it vertically to look at long pages (which is nice for email and my Money checking register). It takes up dramatically less space on my desk, and uses half of the electricity of the CRT and consequently produces much less heat. I've played all of my favorite games (Half Life 2, Sims 2, GTA:SA) and I haven't seen...Read more 25 of 25 people found the following review helpful: By Technology Grad (Sacramento, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ViewSonic VP930b 19" LCD Monitor (Electronics) I received this monitor about a week ago and am very pleased. It had no dead pixels. The colors are vibrant and the images are sharp with excellent contrast. I was transitioning from a 19" Mag Innovision CRT that was beginning fail (after about 6 years).
The pixel response time is entirely satisfactory for me for 3-D games such as City of Heroes and World of Warcraft. I don't get any ghosting. Movies play great with excellent image quality. The stand that Viewsonic uses has a large footprint, but it makes the monitor very stable since it includes pivot, swivel, and height adjustments. It is great to be able to pivot the screen so that you can easily see an entire page while you are using your word processor. Some web pages are also nicer to read when the screen is pivoted. Don't forget to enable the auto-pivot feature in the configuration software in order to activate this feature. When the screen is set to black, you will notice a faint glow...Read more 28 of 29 people found the following review helpful: By Bruce (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews This review is from: ViewSonic VP930b 19" LCD Monitor (Electronics) I bought two VP930b monitors to use side by side for a new Athlon PC workstation. I needed the 8-bit color for desktop publishing. (Most LCD monitors are 6 bits per R, G, B, especially the fast ones for games.) Text and graphics are razor sharp and the colors are gorgeous. Speed was a secondary consideration, yet the product boxes had a separate sticker indicating "8ms." Indeed, the monitors look great when showing a DVD movie (no smearing). I have not discovered any dead or stuck pixels after a month of use. Finally I have found a worthy successor to the $1700 20" Sony CRT purchased several years ago. I'm not too sad having that big boat anchor off the desk.
A 6600GT dual DVI output video card is driving the two monitors. For a monitor of this quality, I would not recommend using the VGA connector option, though the monitor will accept that signal as well. The nVidia video card driver already has the portrait/landscape adjustment, etc. So, I did not need to install the...Read more |
