Summary: Bad Customer Service 2008-06-22
Comment: This review is about Viewsonic's customer service and is not about the quality of this monitor. The VP920b was replaced by the VP930b and that monitor is great when it works, but 3 out of the 4 monitors I had did not work. Worst of all is their customer service. The first monitor I returned had a bad DVI port. Weeks after I sent it in, they returned the same monitor and nothing had been repaired. They tried to replace it with an upgrade to a 20" monitor without asking my approval. After explaining to them that I have a dual monitor setup they finally agreed that I could return the 20" monitor for a 19". Several weeks later I received a brand new 19" monitor and it was dead on arrival! Each time I had to return a monitor they explained that they did not have any in stock and I would have to wait. Finally after 6 months of this back and forth I finally got a monitor that was the right size and worked. Only 6 months later that monitor breaks down and here I am a year later with the same problem. I wonder if it will take another six months to get a new one. Now I know why the warranty is 3 years. I have used up one year already. I used to recommend Viewsonic, and have used them for years. Never again.

Update on my latest return. I received the same monitor back, without the DVI cable that it came with. Finally after receiving the cable a couple of weeks later, I plugged in the monitor to find that the color was distorted. Viewsonic has failed again! I am now going to send this monitor in for a replacement. They claim to have one in stock. I think they are finally understanding how frustrated I am (this is my 6th return). I hope this new monitor works.

Summary: Great Monitors, Great Price 2007-12-22
Comment: Being a programmer/web designer, I needed monitors that were big enough, had great ratios, and were LCD - This monitor is the best. And it's by luck that I found it for the price on Amazon - which is half the price of what ViewSonic sells these for, so it's an absolute steal.

In regards to Steve Bailey, the monitor does wobble on its base as you type if your keyboard is on the desk and not on a mounted retractable keyboard/mouse drawer. I bought two of these monitors, and I don't have the wobbly problem, but I did when I moved the keyboard and mouse off the drawer and on to my actual desk. You can pick up one of those keyboard drawers at Staples, or IKEA, though you may find something better (but more expensive) at a mom/pop-shop type of store.

I highly recommend this product, or any ViewSonic monitor of the Pro Series.

Summary: Adequate, but hardly pro 2007-12-15
Comment: I've had this monitor for about a year now, and have found the dot pitch to be so large that I use it only for computing tasks when next to a Viewsonic VG191b. It is my third viewsonic LCD. Currently it is the only one alive. My local video tech says they are not worth repairing.

Now that's sustainable!

After much searching, I found that Gateway makes some nice monitors and good prices with lots of inputs. They will also guarantee NO dead pixels! Woohoo!

Summary: Worth the money Monitor 2007-03-31
Comment: I've been running this monitor for about 3 months, replacing an old 21 inch CRT. As a graphic artist/ web designer I need to have a decent monitor for color and screen size. At the momment I can't afford the top of the line models, but from reviews and research (don't just go off of Amazon reviews), I ended up with this monitor. I am happy with the quality for the price. Brightness and contrast are good, some calibrating is needed, being able to adjust hieght and tilt are very nice features on the montior as well. Never tried the speakers, as it is a monitor and could care less about the speakers. I currently am running a second monitor (an old 15 in LCD) which I am going to replace with another VP920b. It is a nice monitor for the money. Only compliant is it came with two stuck pixels which are in locations that aren't really noticable, but still a little annoying. Tried fixing them with some software but didn't work.

Summary: poor poor poor 2007-03-06
Comment: This monitor was my worst nightmare. The colors were not consistent (darker in the top left, lighter in bottom right corners). The text was mushy, full of artifacts and difficult to read. The monitor was still to bright, even with the brightness turned down all the way. I used the monitor for about 3 days and my foveas are still throbbing. After calibrating several times I gave up and returned the monitor.

Customer service at Viewsonic was poor, after running me through their website (something I did before the call) they said they would get back to me. I'm still waiting. I ended up returning this and getting an NEC MultiSync LCD2070NX (which I'm very happy with).

Amazon was great throughout the return process (except they don't provide a phone # on their site). I did feel the need to contact them, however after some digging I was able to find the info I needed on their site.

I was very surprised that Viewsonic was passing this off within their professional line.
