The SDMHS75B from Sony is a 17-inch active matrix TFT LCD with a sleek, ergonomic design for a great look on your desk and analog inputs for simple setup and wide compatibility. No matter what the application, the SDMHS75's 1,280 x 1,024 resolution and 0.264mm dot pitch deliver a high-quality, accurate image that is up to the task.
With the monitor's 500:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 of brightness, and anti-glare screen coating, you can easily see onscreen images and text even in brightly-lit environments. Plus, the ErgoBright technology optimizes brightness for any lighting condition to reduce eyestrain. Whether you're watching movies at home with the family or delivering presentations at work, the wide 160-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles allow everybody to easily see the screen, and a fast 16 ms response time ensures that motion graphics and video are displayed without interruption.
The SDMHS75 connects to your computer via a 15-pin mini D-sub port and is plug-and-play compatible, so setup is a snap. Its small 15.3-by-5.5-inch footprint makes a slender addition to your desktop, and wall-mount compatibility lets you free up desktop space completely. Compatible with both PC and Mac operating systems, the SDMHS75 comes backed with a thee-year limited warranty on parts, labor, and backlight.

As I type this review, I'm watching my words appear on the screen of my new Sony 17" monitor. Prior to owning my Sony, I had a no-name CRT. I noticed that after about and hour in front of the screen, my eyes would start to tear and I would have a hard time focusing and reading fine print. But when my ancient computer bit the dust last week, my new PC came bundled with the Sony LCD monitor and I immediately noticed an improvement. The print and colors are sharp and have good contrast. I am experiencing no eye fatigue and I enjoy the extra space on my desk due to this monitor's intelligent design. Setup is a cinch. The brightness control is a model of simplicity - push the clearly marked button and watch the choices pop up. It took, literal, 10 seconds.
I admit to being a Sony fan and I own a lot of their products. They represent rock solid value and their service has always been good. While they may not always be the lowest price option out there, the quality sells it for...Read more

One of the best -- when it works -- customer service, what's that?, April 25, 2006

This is the best of all possible monitors... the only problem is that it doesn't work all the time. Imagine my surprise to hook this up and to see the dazzling quality of the screen image. I was truly amazed. Then fifteen minutes later the screen goes dark, not even the Menu will come on, it's really dead. So, I turn it off and five minutes later it comes on again, still dazzling quality.
After this cycle happening five times I called Sony and got right through quickly but this guy had to send me to a "monitor specialist". I WAITED ALMOST 2-HOURS and was told that the monitor was dead and that I had to ship to San Diego (from Boston) for evaluation and they would either fix it or send me another one. They wanted ME TO PAY FOR THE SHIPPING and then to wait two weeks for the return.
I was ticked. I tried to argue that there was a difference between a monitor going bad after a few months and one being DOA. But, they didn't want to listen. I asked for a...Read more

Given its stability, the excellent quality, and so on I couldn't ask for a better monitor for the price. I've had it for over a year and it works great.
