This review is from: Samsung LD220G 21.5 Inch LCD Monitor - Black (Electronics) I purchased this product because I was beginning to think my 5+ year old LCD was about to go. I hooked it up to my Netbook computer, and it worked beautifully the first time.
A month later my old LCD finally went belly up. So I hooked up the Samsung. The picture was very attractive, but showed some blurriness. It was OK, I guess. So I used it, and played with it, and finally, 4 days later, I got it adjusted just about right ... It is pretty close to perfect now. Moral: An excellent monitor, worked immediately on my Netbook. AND, after some adjustments (the adjustments change other adjustments, so it takes a while to get them ALL right), it will be just fine. The adjustments that worked for me (after reducing the brightness of the monitor itself), were adjustments to my video card Advanced settings. It is running on a DELL XPS600 with Windows XP-SP3. The screen is very wide relative to it's height, so a circle will probably be "squished"...Read more By Ed Menke (The Shortstop) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Samsung LD220G 21.5 Inch LCD Monitor - Black (Electronics) To my endless -- endless -- consternation, most people seem to love working on tiny laptop screens. I just don't get it. If you're traveling, and you "need" to work this way, well fine, of course. What else can you do? However, if you're traveling by car (or around your house), or away for the weekend, WHY ARE YOU LIMITING YOURSELF TO THAT TINY SCREEN?!? Why-oh-why?This monitor is lightweight, bright, relatively large, and can easily be carried in its shipping box (which I often do). You _can_ use it with your desktop, but as others have noted, there's no DVI/HDMI input, and the lack of this is unforgivable. However, if you don't need it for video, don't have an extra display port on your computer, or (best use) want to augment a laptop, this is your huckleberry. Uses standard DisplayLink drivers. For computer video over USB, DisplayLink is "the only game in town," and it works quite nicely for everything but full-screen, full-motion video (which...Read more This review is from: Samsung LD220G 21.5 Inch LCD Monitor - Black (Electronics) I bought this monitor has an extra monitor for my laptop. Awesome design I love how it sits right next to it with the little kickstand. Easy to lift and move with the little groove near top.
I also bought it because it is advertised as a USB port plug in monitor. It is in theory but only if you are running an older version of Windows as they haven't updated the drivers for this function to work with Windows 7. It also has a black 1 inch vertical dead space at the far right of the monitor when I run it as a expansion of my laptop screen. Customer service was unable to help with any solution for this and it seems like a fairly common problem with Windows 7. I actually still really like it as the one inch loss of real estate doesn't bother me too much. The colors and clarity are brilliant and design is wonderful. If it wasn't for the operational problems and lack of updated drivers I would definitely get this monitor a five-star. It...Read more |
