I work in the financial / investment industry.
Planar monitors are the preferred choice due to their excellent warranty. Unlike most manufacturers, Planar offers a comprehensive 3-year warranty that simply requires exchanging the defective monitor for another one (refurbished presumably).
Add to that the 300cdm, which is the brightest for this size, and you have a solid product that offers a well-rounded blend of in-built speakers/sound, a multitude of connectors (DVI, VGA, HDMI), and factory defaults that ensure the screens do not waste energy when not in use, by automatically going into a sleep mode.
Although Samsung and LG are the industry leaders for LCD screens, their warranty is lacking. The last thing a consumer can imagine is having a product fail, and the warranty has lapsed; making the product worthless.
