I replaced an old 1995 NEC 21" tube monitor with this. The old 1995 monitor still had beautiful color when I switched, but I wanted a smaller form factor and something a little easier on the eyes.

Only reason for four stars is it is somewhat pricey. Otherwise I love it.

I tried a ViewSonic 22", but took it back because I hated the color and the rectangular native aspect ratio. It made everything look skewed. I work on a computer, I don't watch movies on it, so I need the native 1600 x 1200 aspect ratio.

This monitor is more expensive, but if you want very good color representation in the standard aspect ratio (good for picture rendering), then this is a good monitor.

I have been using it for about four months and am very happy with it. I actually bought two of them, one at work and one at home, and have had zero problems. I hope it has the same NEC quality as my old 1995 monitor. So far, so good.

I've had this monitor 3 weeks now and love it. Amazon delivered two days ahead of schedule and the monitor arrived with no dead pixels.

The color saturation and contract is exceptional, producing crisp realistic pictures. In fact you will need to turn the brightness and contract down as the monitor produces more than you need. Very bright pictures. I use it extensively for photography and am very glad I got this monitor versus a wide screen. This format is also much better for surfing the web generally and for day to day use with Word, email and other packages. I do not do much gaming or movie watching, but what little I have done I have noticed no problem with refresh rate and have gotten no jerky movements.

This is a very good monitor, the best LCD one I have used so far ... text display is sharp and color fidelity is very good, not as good as Sun or Silicon Graphics CRTs, but it is closer than most LCD monitors. I pick this one over the NEC LCD2490UX2-BK simply it has 4:3 format since I use the computer for reading, not watching movies, and this format provide most usage for screen size.

Most LCD fails the gray scale test and can't distinguish the subtle gradation of gray scale from back to white or any other primary colors from darkest to the lightest, this one passes where all my former LCD failed. The illumination is even in all parts of the screen, so it is suitable for Adobe Photo-Shop application if you edit photos.

This model is no longer in production, the successive model is LCD2190UX2-BK which I will get one when the price lowers just for future use of 4:3 old schooled format.
