Great IPS at TTF Price!,

This review is from: NEC MultiSync EA232WMi 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor (Electronics)
I run a three monitor setup for web publishing. My 7 year old 24 inch ips panel that I use for my primary display was starting to go so I took a chance and ordered a Benq 24 inch VA EW2420 panel because I saw the problems people had with the Dell's uneven quality for their Ultra sharp. The colors on the Benq are terrible. Tried calibrating it and it is still off with the whites taking on a purplish tint. So I went on a search for a better monitor and stumbled across this one from some excellent reviews. Out of the box with some minor tweaking to the brightness, the colors were almost perfect with no need to extra calibration. The white's are white and the blacks are black! For my purposes it is just what I needed. I do not play games so I can not comment on how well this will do for that. On the con side there is some light bleed on the bottom left corner when viewing a totally black screen but it isn't a factor once you have a non-static screen up. I loved the results so much that...Read more

Backlight whine,
April 23, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: NEC MultiSync EA232WMi 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor (Electronics)
The first unit I received from Amazon made a high pitched whine. This could be slightly mitigated by adjusting the intensity of the backlight, but I couldn't find any way to make it go away altogether. I contacted NEC tech support: although they were very polite, they were unable to do anything to help.
I sent it back to Amazon and they dutifully shipped me a replacement. Sadly the replacement also whined, albeit quieter this time. I also noticed a soft buzzing from the upper-left of the monitor. This one went back to Amazon as well; this time for a refund.
Aside from what I assume is a manufacturing defect, I really like this monitor. The picture is great, it was well packaged, the OSD is intuitive, and it is sturdier than my VP2365wb. If you're willing to take a chance with this monitor, or you're not someone who usually notices high-pitched noises, I would say to give this a go.
I really can't give this any higher than 3 stars considering BOTH units...Read more

This review is from: NEC MultiSync EA232WMi 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor (Electronics)
I calibrated the NEC MultiSync EA232WMi screen via the OSD to 40 % Brightness and 50% contrast for my environment .The unit is very well constructed and the adjustable stand with both height and tilt adjustments makes use a real joy. I have it setup to display YM future charts in two time frames, the trading platform software has a black background and the price candles are of various colors, green, red, yellow and blue. The display is very easy on the eyes for someone who watches for 4 to 5 hour periods at a clip.
Post calibration results-Outstanding display quality is what come to mind first when you light up this display, simply beautiful. No light bleeding colors are true and as others here have said the blacks are black and the whites are white, contrast is excellent; text is very sharp and readable.
I use the profile provided by the good people at the British site TFT central and use the native mode preset on the NEC to adjust to my specifications. Screen glare is...Read more
