Nec LCD1990SX-BK 19-Inch 1500:1 LCD with DVI (Black)

This monitor has very high quality! It is really great! Color rendition is realistic and bright. You can look from a wide range of angles and the picture on the screen remain bright, colors doesn't change. When a lot of people are getting together to watch a film, there is no need to adjust the monitor direction hardly to make sure that everyone can see.
It is also good for those who cares much about the picture on the screen and colors... As photographers or artists. Actually this is the reason I chose it. It is not cheap. But it is professional. If you place it next to usual LCD, both turned on, working - the difference between them is so obvious! (I had a chance to do that)
Several times I have heard "wow, the monitor is great!" from my guests at home.
If you don't pay this much attention to the monitor, you can better find a cheaper product. But if the quality is important to you - you will never complain!

As other reviewers wrote, the NEC LCD1990SX-BK is an excellent monitor for people who need accurate color, brightness and contrast. Right out of the box, it was perfect!

We set it up next to a Samsung 943T in dual-monitor/clone mode and all we could say was WOW! The 943T had been the standard we used to compare other monitors. The 943T is over 2 years old and no longer available. Two newer Samsung LCDs, a Dell Professional 19" LCD and an HP LED didn't even come close to matching the 943T, but the NEC LCD1990SX-BK now has top honors. Plus, most newer monitors come with a flimsy stand and this monitor has a sturdy and adjustable stand.

The control buttons on the monitor are easy to use. There is also a downloadable Naviset program that allow you to change monitor settings without touching the monitor. We purchased this monitor in November 2008. Individual color adjustments are capable, and with a hardware spider you can easily create an accurate profile for color management. If you have your own software-hardware calibration tools, you can save a lot by purchasing this monitor which comes without it's own dedicated calibrator.

This 19" monitor has proved excellent for photographic work, both on-line and for output to in house ink-jet or press. The 19" size means the native resolution is such that all icons and menus remain readable. I would recommend a second monitor (15" to 19") to spread your tools over a larger desktop. The second monitor could be less color critical, and thusly less expensive.

The 4x3 aspect ratio is much better for portrait images and for standard letter size pages even in its landscape orientation. Note: with the proper video card you may swivel this monitor into true portrait orientation, a big plus.
