Even in Jan. 2011, the selection of displayport monitors is limited. I bought this one because it has a displayport, LED backlight, pivot axis, and mounting holes. I could not find all these features together on another 19" monitor. The color and contrast of the image are sharp. Eventhough this is a TN monitor, it has better viewing angles than my 2 other TN monitors.
The only con's are the price (due to the displayport) and the lack of a 3.5mm audio out port (needed since the 2 built-in speakers are really weak). The eco-mode is useless since it just reduces your brightness. You'll need to increase the brightness since it's low by default.
Non-uniform brightness,

Monitor is environmentally friendly and the stand works very nicely (has a pivot mode, which many monitors don't have). The controls are easy to use.
However, the screen brightness and color vary across the screen and are very sensitive to viewing angle, even at +/-20 degrees. I contacted NEC tech support about this and was told that this is normal for the TN panel technology used in this monitor. To get improved performance, I would have to buy a more expensive monitor with PVA panel technology. Interestingly, the Samsung and Dell monitors I have with TN panel technology are more uniform.
I returned the monitor, as it was unacceptable for the photo editing I do.
