After dealing with two ugly old ~$200 ASUS 24" monitors for my photo editing, I decided that enough was enough and I was going to get a real monitor for this kind of work. After doing some research, I found that the PA241W would likely be more than sufficient without requiring me to spend twice as much on something like an Eizo. So I ordered the PA241W.
Earlier today the new monitor arrived, I removed my primary 24" cheapo display, and replaced it with this. Calibration was very simple using the SpectraView software and the included colorometer, with excellent results. I was up and running very quickly. (I'm using OS X Lion with a mac mini.) Much much easier than what I'd normally have to go through for calibration on the old monitors.

I calibrated both the NEC and the remaining Apple display at the same time; after seeing them side by side, being able to drag the same exact image from one monitor to the other, the difference is clear. The NEC Multisync with Spectraview blows the Apple monitor away - they're not even in the same league - not even close. Granted, the Apple display is not new, but now I want to replace my other Cinema display with another one of these because I love this NEC so much! It's friggin amazing. If you're hesitating, contemplating, comparing etc., stop and just buy this. I think you will be glad you did! Not just the monitor, but the Spectraview software is awesome - so much better than the software that came with my XRite calibration unit that I use for the Apple display.
Now my Apple...Read more
