2.0 out of 5 stars Great at first..., December 23, 2008

I've had my LG W2452T for about 6 months now. Until a few days ago, I would have highly recommended this product. The color, contrast, etc are all great. The price is pretty good for what you get as well. The only bad thing out of the box is its casing: its seems like really cheap plastic.

However, I can no longer recommend this product at all. After 6 months of perfect operation, it seems to be failing. A few days ago it started to randomly flicker: it would go blank (not black, blank) and then come back a second or two later. At first I thought it was the video card or the drivers; but after some major troubleshooting I think the problem is the monitor itself. It seems to be overheating which is causing these problems: the flickering only starts after using the monitor for a while, then the flickers increase in frequency. I've ultimately "solved" the problem by placing a small fan at its back (it heats up mostly at the top) and the problems have gone away. To me...Read more

This is a great monitor for the price that you are getting it at. I use it for casual use, and for a little bit of graphic design and programming. Unfortunately I'm only able to connect through the VGA port for now so I can't review the full quality of the picture this monitor could provide. I find the picture quality pretty amazing though compared to my old 19" dell monitor. The blacks are very black, not gray, and the whites are very white. For a TN panel colors are also pretty good, the reds aren't over-saturated like the Samsung monitors. The one thing that I do have a bit of a gripe about is that gradients are not completely smooth in transitioning, there is a little bit of banding. However, I can accept that in a $400 monitor. The next level up in a monitor could be around $275 more.

Also, even though this is a TN panel when I sitting at my desk the monitor is completely even throughout the screen. I have to lean over pretty far before I notice any changes...Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars OK to start with but....., January 5, 2009

Like the review posted by L. Bourke, I too was initially impressed by this monitor however. I now have the same problem as this reviewer, I purchased my monitor in July 2008, and started getting the problem at the beginning of November. Initally it would flicker once or twice a day, but now I can only use the monitor for about 30 minutes before the flicker becomes unbeareable. Heat is the cause as this monitor seams to get unusually hot and you can sometimes here the cracking of the plastic casing expanding. I have yet to try the fan on the back, but I will do so at some point.
