Greatest low-budget IPS screen for your money!,

This review is from: LG IPS236V 23" 1080p HDMI Widescreen LED Monitor (Electronics)
I purchased one of these (refurbished) for dirt cheap.
WOW I am IMPRESSED (no dead pixels!). This is my first IPS screen, so I can't really compare with any of the other well known Dell UltraSharps or HPs, but I can say with absolute certainty that these are head and shoulders above all the TN panels I've ever owned.
Out of the box, the monitor does need some color calibration, which can be easily done by downloading many of the free applications that are available online. In my case, I simply used the color calibrator in Mac OS X, and it worked like a charm.
Unlike the two reviewers who gave this screen low ratings, I did not experience backlight bleeding or text blurriness issues. The backlight is very uniform, and the text is crystal clear. The text sharpness/fuzziness can also be easily adjusted with the OSD menu to your liking, so there should be no reason why these issues should be problematic unless the monitor you receive is a lemon (which...Read more

Not the best IPS monitor, but the best $200 monitor,

Took it out of the box, and after letting it warm up I calibrated it with a Spyder3. The monitor was pretty good with the default monitor profile but after calibration it looked outstanding. Mine does not have the backlight bleed others have reported nor does it have any stuck pixels. The IPS panel really does put every other $200-ish LCD I've ever seen to shame. It may not be one of the best-looking IPS monitor made but it is one of the best-looking $200 monitors made.
Ghosting doesn't seem any worse than the 23" Acer LCD it replaced, and that had a GTG time of 2ms (published). But I'm not a supergamer; just a casual TF2 player.
Another thing that is nice is that you can turn off the blue power LED in the software. It still comes on when the monitor goes to sleep but once you wake it up the LED goes back out. The only real weakness of the monitor I've found is the stand. It's a bit wobbly, and it's also pretty short so you'll probably have to put the...Read more

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: LG IPS236V 23" 1080p HDMI Widescreen LED Monitor (Electronics)
I primarily purchased this for a gaming computer. I play a mix of FPS and RTS and have no complaints. No lag or ghosting, good color and white balance, excellent viewing angles, and very light to carry around to parties.
