A 15-inch flat panel monitor from Hewlett Packard, the F50 is a high-quality TFT LCD monitor with plenty of features and a reasonable price tag. A maximum non-interlaced resolution of 1024 x 768 combines with a 0.297 mm dot pitch to provide clear, detailed pictures and crisp, sharp text. A 24-bit driver depth produces over 16 million colors, resulting in bright, true-to-life images suitable for a wide variety of home and home office needs.
The anti-glare screen treatment helps cut back on harmful reflections and the resulting eye-strain, while a 300:1 contrast ratio and 200 nits of brightness make the screen easy to see even in well lit environments. A 120-degree horizontal and 90-degree vertical viewing angle ensures that several people can view the screen at once, while a 5-degree down and 25-degree up tilt lets you ideally position the monitor to suit your needs.
The F50 connects to your computer via either a VGA analog or DVI digital connector, and is a "plug and play" monitor, ready to use right out of the box. With the onscreen controls, you can adjust a wide variety of monitor settings including brightness, contrast, H/V position, H/V size, color temperature, sharpness, and much more.
The F50 has a small 14.4-by-8.5-inch footprint and weighs just 10.6 pounds. TCO 99 and Energy Star compliant, the F50 is PC compatible only and comes backed with a one year limited warranty.

The HP F50 is without a doubt a wonderful monitor. We just purchased ours three days ago and I feel like I am in a brand new computer world. The clarity and sharpness of this monitor is unsurpassed. My husband has a vision defect, and this monitor is much easier for him to read. He is actually using our computer since this purchase! This is definate must for anyone searching for a new monitor. Well worth the money--exceptional value!

HP F50 Is Very Good, January 2, 2003

My experience with this monitor is quite different from the first posting. I purchased the HP Pavilion 743c about a week ago and it came bundled with the F50 LCD Monitor. The resolution and color are sharp and easy on my eyes. I am very happy with it. I have looked at other LCD monitors such as Gateway's current 17" and it is noticeably less sharp and I would call it smudgy. Another quality of this monitor is its dual input capabilities of analog and digital (DVI).

Problems After Warranty of 1 year, June 22, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: HP F50 15" LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I purchased this monitor at Micro Computer, Santa Clara California in October 2002 along with a Hewlett Packard computer. I did not purchase any additional warranty as the monitor came with a 1 year guarantee. At the time this monitor was priced at $649. In June of 2004 the monitor screen intermittently went blank for periods of 1 second to more then 1 hour. I tested the monitor on another computer and it exhibited the same problem. HP customer service had me bring it to a Radio Shack store that received moved it to the HP repair center. The monitor was returned 2 weeks later without repair. I was told by HP that flat screen LCD monitors are never repaired. So the net result is that the monitor lasted only 1-1/2 years. I complained to HP and they have offered me a $175 dollar credit towards a new monitor which will cost $379. My complaint is that the guarantee is much too short at 1 year on an expensive part that cannot be repaired. They need to offer a reasonable minimum life...Read more
