I shopped around and looked high and low for something with a nice dot pitch , fast responce time , bigger than my old 21" and at a fair price. I was not pleased with the old reviews of the last 24" Gateway so I stayed away from it. I saw a local store near me had this one in stock so I decided to take a look. Lucky for me and them that they had it on display. I looked at it ( 20" model ) and was very impressed by how crisp and clear the picture was. I noticed the text was tight and clean, very easy to read ( 0.265 Pixel Pitch )<---- this is why, the smaller the number the tighter the pixels are, the clearer the text will be. My other test in store was to put it on screen saver and see what "BLANK" looked like, test it to see back light bleed. Wow not bad at all, really not at all.
I bought the 23" model, I was sold after looking at how good it looked in the store. Funny thing is Gateway...Read more 16 of 16 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Gateway FHX2300 bmd 23-Inch Widescreen LCD Display - Black (Personal Computers) I bought this monitor 1 week ago, in fact someone bought it for me because since I live in the Caribbean I needed a way to ship it here cheaper than my regular skybox.
After having it one week I must say this is a thing of beauty, I bought it because it was the cheapest Glossy Anti Reflective LCD display in 1080P available for desktops. Actually I was about to buy the HP but after seeing this was 40,000:1 contrast ratio compared to the HP's 1000:1 I decided on this. Either way I would still be happy because I could not find another GLOSSY Anti reflective desktop monitor on earth. Took me 2 weeks of researching to find it, I find it sad that most people think matte is better when this is not true. Glossy is sharper by a million miles, it don't give the horrible haze and eye fatigue of matte display. You can use this in a room with sun light and its sharp and bright as day!!! This is the beauty of Glossy, I was going blind with Anti Glare Matte displays and when...Read more 18 of 20 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Gateway FHX2300 bmd 23-Inch Widescreen LCD Display - Black (Personal Computers) The other reviews of 5 stars feel a bit hyped and not complete. Although I like this monitor due to its advantages, it still has some flaws that keep it quite away from a solid 5 out of 5. I have an older 30" LCD (matte coating) monitor sitting right beside it and both monitors on black screens have polarizing qualities, with the gateway being clearly worse (due to bleeding).
To sum things up easily for other customers: Pros (excellent stuff): 1) Inputs HDMI, DVI-D, VGA and audio (with all related cables!). 2) Max resolution at 1080p (1920 x 1080). 3) Speakers built in. 4) On screen buttons for calibration, sound and input mode. 5) Pretty picture quality (being glossy and all - also a con). Cons: 1) On screen buttons are a pain to find in the dark (they are located under the bottom frame). 2) Screen-Bleeding from the sides (I wouldn't mention it unless it was pretty bad like in this monitor). 3)...Read more |
