Dell SP2309W 23-Inch LCD Widescreen Monitor

I bought this monitor direct from Dell where incidently it was quite a bit cheaper (approx $250). I'm not surprised that the other reviewer doesn't like the speakers as it doesn't come with speakers (or at least it was an option at Dell and if you read the product features it doesn't mention speakers). There are two things that make this an excellent monitor for some people. The first is the resolution (2048 x 1152) which is higher than most high resolution 24inch monitors. Our company used to buy 24 inch Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP which are highly rated monitors with a 1920 x 1280 resolution but they cost about $550 (Dell currently has them on sale for $430). These are great monitors but are a tad pricey. The other nice feature is that the monitor is widescreen. In a business setting this makes it very easy to have two windows side by side and be able to compare. (Windows 7 by the way makes this very easy to do). I've written down some pro's and con's:
Pros:
- Beautiful color, amazing clarity... looks good
- Big display
- Cost isn't terrible
- Cool touch buttons
- Stand is HIGHLY flexible (PERFECT stand)
- Monitor looks sleek and sexy, thin and shiny
- Glossy screen makes colors pop
- Webcam included
- Cord organizer in the back
Cons:
- Higher than HD resolution is good for multi-tasking, but it stretches your videos (HD and DVD) and therefore the quality of your videos goes down. If you're looking for a HDTV/HD movie viewing monitor... go with a straight 1080 resolution
- Screen easily gets marked up by fingerprints, dust, etc.

My husband was experiencing eye strain, and the monitor he had was beginning to fail, so I went shopping for a new monitor. I didn't originally intend to buy an HD monitor, but for the price versus size, plus an HD display, this monitor was an obvious choice.

My husband primarily uses it for CAD drawing, sometimes in marathon sessions. It has significantly reduced his eye strain, allowing him to work much longer, and in great detail. The screen is glossy, but it seems to have some sort of anti-glare factor to it. The work station has a huge patio-size window behind it with indirect sunlight, and neither of us notices much glare or reflection on the screen.

Video is definitely improved and looks beautiful on this screen, from low-def to HD. The size and definition make this montior an excellent option for those with vision deficits or for anyone who needs to get up close and personal with images, games and video.
