This review is from: Dell 2.0 Stereo Sound Bar Speaker for Dell LCD Flat Panel Studio Monitors (Dell Part/Model Numbers: AY511, F112P, G380T, Y260N, 313-8742) (Personal Computers)
This speaker is a real space saver, but it does come with TWO major drawbacks - price and sound quality.
Don't kid yourself and think any of those SRS "virtual surround" feature (that does nothing but drive the price up) will fix the main problem. The speaker units inside the glossy slimline casing are tiny. They sound like cheap $15 speakers.
If you need this for the space saving feature, just buy the regular Dell AX510 Soundbar (around $20).
But if you have a little more desk space, forget any of these soundbars and look for a set of proper speakers instead. Even a simple Logitech LS21 ($25) would sound far better than these speakers... or go straight for a set of Creative GigaWorks T20/T40 if you don't have under desk space for a separate subwoofer for some seriously good sound from just 2 desktop speakers.
So really, besides the glossy curved design of these speakers, there's really nothing else good about them. You can get similar space...Read more

Ok, first off, let me say that this bar has some sort of virtual surround sound setting that makes the sound sound, well, fuller and much better imo. It also has bass boost and a voice volume enhancer.
Here are two things I would have liked to know before purchasing:
1. The voice enhancer is amazing. How many times have you watched a movie just to rewind it because you couldn't understand what the actors actually said?
2. If you use the audio out for your headphones, the surround sound thing, the bass boost, and the voice booster all pass through to your headphones! I actually assumed that using headphones wouldn't let you use the cool features of this bar, but I was wrong! And, of course, you can turn the features off too, if you prefer.
Now, let me say that this bar does not have the best sound in the world. It has tiny speakers. But I'm not an audiophile, and this bar has better sound quality than what I need to enjoy whatever I'm doing. If I were...Read more

this is the only dell spoundbar recommended for my new dell monitor, and it is more expensive than other soundbars.
i bought it in the hope of saving space and cable mess. the monitor has a display port interface (that supports sound alongside the display video signals), and has a 12V DC output "for the soundbar" the documentation says.
But this soundbar requires an audio cable to the pc, and a power cable and a [small] AC/DC converter. after contacting dell support, it turns out a lot of customers who buy this soundbar are disappointed for this same reason.
the sound is great for my taste by the way.
