The main reason I bought 2 of these monitors were because they are VA LCD panels as opposed to TN panels. Not going to go through all the technical differences here (feel free to Google ;)....), but the main difference I noticed the second I turned these on were the incredible black levels.

From a technical standpoint, IPS is supposed to be better then VA primarily due to viewing angles. Not sure why people are so hung up over viewing angles on computer monitors. I mean, how often do you either A. work while looking at your monitor at extreme angles, or B. sit around with 10 people on a 23" monitor watching a movie. For me, never. I actually owned 2 LG IPS226V (IPS) monitors recently that were returned promptly. Backlight bleed was bad, and screen uniformity was horrible. Black levels on this Ben Q are noticably better then the LG IPS monitor.

The deep blacks translate across the color spectrum into really bold, nicely saturated colors. I will say, the monitor...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome monitor, August 14, 2011

I purchased this monitor to replace two dudds (one was a CinemaView 24 and the other was an Apple Cinema Display) and I can tell you the display quality of this monitor is just as good as that found in the Apple Cinema Display. While the monitor itself is not as pretty as the Apple monitor, it is no slouch. It's just as thin but doesn't hurt the pocket book near as much.

Like the Apple and CinemaView displays, the EW2420 doubles as a USB hub, with two USB ports on the side and two in the back, as well as a headphone jack on the side. One small detail that I was not expecting was the little headphone hook that slips on the back of the monitor, how awesome is that?!

I bought this monitor through BenQ directly so I paid a bit more because at the time it was not available on Amazon, but you all can take adavantage of the $300 pricetag.

I wasn't sure which brand to buy, even though I knew Samsung was one of the best and I have a 40 inch flat screen HDMI Samsung T.V., I didn't want to spend the extra money especially since am not going to be watching movies on it.
I went to Fry's Electronics and I looked at all the brands on display and almost automatically my eyes went to the Ben Q. Two displays this one and a smaller version. For the a little bit more and to have a nice 24 inch screen I went this one and am glad I did. The picture quality grabbed me immediatley as well as the sleek, thin desgin.
Everything about this monitor grabbed me and I knew this was the one. Even though I never heard of Ben Q before the quality of the picture was just as good as the Samsung's on display and a lot less expensive.
For under $300 to get a 24 inch wide screen LED of this quality, I'm very happy with my choice. The set up was fast and simple. It's amazing what a new 24 inch LED monitor can do for ones old desk top...Read more
