This review is from: ASUS VW224T - 22-Inch Wide LCD Monitor (Personal Computers) -It has a SPEAKER, which isn't obvious from the product details. Mediocre sound quality, but still usable. Convenient for watching youtube and video clips. I even use it to watch Netflix from across the room, its loud enough. The sound comes out from the top ventilation grille on the back. The volume controls are difficult to figure out, I just leave it at 100% and use Windows volume control.
-1680x1050 native resolution is a good balance, gives a lot of room without making text way too small to read. Aspect ratio is great for using the Windows 7 "snap" feature for having two windows open - I now use this feature ALL the time. There is a single dead pixel at the very top edge, but I never notice it, its always in the dark edge of whatever window is open. -Color, brightness and contrast look good. I'm not a designer so I can't nitpick any more than that, but it looks as good as the expensive Dell monitors in my school library. I was coming from a 15 inch 4:3 display, so the size of this was a shock for a couple days before I got used to it. As soon as I received this I did a dead pixel check and my results were negative. The brightness from the factory is set at around 90 percent which was way to bright for me. I currently have it set at 45 percent and have no back light bleed. Unlike other monitors this has a small notification power light which is very easy on the eyes. The only thing I do not like about the monitor is the labels for the setting buttons are not visible in low light conditions. I believe this is the least expensive 22 inch monitor at the time of this writing. There was also a 20 dollar rebate from ASUS that I received. It was not advertised with Amazon, but like any item I buy a quick internet searched found one for me. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ASUS VW224T - 22-Inch Wide LCD Monitor (Personal Computers) I had / have a Samsung 22" whose bulb is slowly dying, and this monitor compares quite well to it. Colors and resolution are just fine, no dead pixels, and the Asus is more adjustable in terms of height and tilt. Got my Samsung for about $300 3 years ago, and that same model has only come down about $80 in price since then. If this Asus lasts me that long then I'll consider it a huge win, and if it doesn't then it's under warranty! Only two complaints I have are pretty minor - it takes a second or two longer to turn on than my Samsung, and the on/off button isn't as sensitive. |
