ASUS VK266H 26-Inch Full HD 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor with 2.0MP CAM (Black)

Comment: I have just switched from an old 4:3 20 LCD to this monitor a few days ago. I have three issues so far. 1. The software CD packed with the monitor contained software ONLY for notebook PC's, I have no idea what they might have wanted to provide. 2. There was no software for the built-in web-cam. Windows 7 Professional found the camera and applied Microsoft drivers dated 2006. Since there are no microphones and I already have a web-cam, this is not a problem for me. Although the Asus web site claims to have a utility for the monitor and for Windows 7, the utility could not be downloaded. 3. The VESA mount is set to high. I mounted the monitor on a desk mount arm and found that, since the bracket mounts well above the center of gravity, the LCD keeps tilting down. I could not tighten the arm enough to prevent this. The only way I could solve the problem was to sit the monitor on something, defeating the purpose of having the monitor on a moveable arm.

On the plus side - this is a tremendous monitor, owing much to the 10:16 format instead of the normal 9:16. The 3 watt speakers are more than adequate. I do not do any gaming so I can't comment any further.

Comment: Awesome 26" monitor with a really nice image quality. No dead pixels, everything is really nice... including enough inputs to hook up anything you can think of (HDMI, VGA, DVI and more). I got the model with built in web cam, although haven't tried that yet.

One really great thing about this is the resolution is 1900 x 1200 which is an extra 120 pixels of screen height compared to the 1920 x 1080 1080p most monitors run. If you want to use this for spreadsheets, web design, photoshop etc, those extra pixels of screen height are worth their weight in gold... and this was so cheap it was amazing.

Comment: Best Monitor I have ever had... picture quality is perfect. No dead pixels. no weird coloring like some people complained about(just have to mess with color settings a bit). speakers are pretty good imo, I have a fairly small room so I dont need loud ass speakers. digital camera is pretty decent not great considering its only 2megapix, but it does the job, and only for an extra (...) bucks I say its worth it. stand is pretty sturdy no problems with it at all. this thing is bright as hell, at night I have to turn the brightness to the lowest and even then its still kinda bright. playing COD MW2 is freakin awesome on this monitor, movies are just as pleasing. I dont have any problem with blacks either or dark movie scenes. to sum it up... no cons besides the fact it doesnt come with two HDMI ports. I have to switch my Xbox from my PC all the time, kind of a hassle... but perfect other than that

Comment: If you are thinking of purchasing this monitor for your Windows 7 system, DON'T!!! The webcam on this monitor is incompatible with
Windows 7. It works with XP and Vista, but NOT WINDOWS 7! ASUS doesn't plan to update the driver to solve that problem. All you see is a bunch of large two-toned gray pixels (maybe 100 or so). Not even a low-res picture.

There's no point paying $40 more for a webcam that doesn't work. Get the model that doesn't have a webcam or a monitor from a trusted manufacturer. Asus is manufactured in CHINA. After all the crappy coming of that country lately, I shouldn't known better than to have purchased this one. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

Comment: I was nervous purchasing a monitor on line, such a hassle to return if something is wrong. This monior is beautiful. No bad pixels. I have put it throught the paces, it responds beautifuly. I don't know what took me so long to purchase a large monitor. So much easier on the eyes, plus, pictures, streaming video are crisp, colorful and just great to watch. Asus has a fine product here. If you are looking for a 26" monitor, this one is a fine choice! The sound is great as well, sounds as good as my external speakers. I haven't used the web cam yet, but it came up immediately as available. I intend to hang this LCD on the wall as soon as I find an appropriate articulating wall arm that I like.
