We got this on a $96. special a few weeks back for my wife. She is on the computer several hours a day working and has stated it's much easier on the eyes than her old 17" LCD. Rich creamy colors. Simply plug and use. Set up for both VGA and DVI input of course. And of course energy efficent. This may be a basic monitor but what does a monitor do for a normal user?...it shows what the computer sends! I have not touched a button on a monitor in years since I've never needed to. This unit is inexpensive enough that if something extraordinary occurs like a power surge that fries it, we're not out a lot. I kind of wish we had bought 2 and replaced my older 21" LCD unit. Has a stable stand, as we placed it on a 2"x8" simply so she could look straight at it without bending her neck to avoid neck strain. Ask yourself, why buy old technology like a LCD monitor when you can get newer more energy efficent LED technology at the same price? So far so good. We would recommend this as a great value...Read more

Excellent picture. No dead pixels. Well built stand. Great viewing range.
One slight nit-pick but with Amazon's description not the monitor. The description says DVI cable included which would lead you to believe it has a DVI port but it doesn't and of course no DVI cable is included. At the price I don't mind no DVI.
For Linux users you may have to add the monitor's native resolution to your xorg.conf file. It will work just fine in other resolutions till you get that done .
Final opinion: I'm very happy with it.

This display has a very high contrast ratio and good resolution. The stand is stable and easy to adjust. I like the Splendid feature because it remembers your settings. You can set it to Night mode and turn the brightness all the way down and will keep that setting next time you go to it. Asus has the best warranty. Their Rapid Replacement service will send you a new display and pay return shipping for the old one. They will even send the replacement before you send the old one if you give your credit card. The display is covered for three years. My local electric company (National Grid) is also offering a $20 rebate on Energy Star monitors, so I got this one for $90 from Amazon.
