I spend so much time on my pc that I figured I owed it to my eyes to have the largest reasonable display.
I read other reviews. I have an ATI 4290 on-board graphics using the ATI catalyst software.
Out of the box I got my VGA connection to work with out an issue.
I am not a huge sound person so I decided to save desk space and use the built-in speakers and volume on the monitor.
To minimize cables I switched from VGA to HDMI and removed my speakers.
The product works fine (with HD picture and sound) but took a little configuring to balance and effectively use Windows 7, ATI Catalyst, and the Monitor's capabilities.
-'s - The ASUS Quick start documentation is weak. There is major room for improvement here.

If you have two video cables plugged in, you will have your computer thinking you have two displays. Windows will autodetect and configure accordingly.
After discovering the multicables issue, I completely removed my vga cable from the PC and rebooted.
I got the same "black border issue" described by other people. I also got an oversized view which meant the computer was giving me an image too big for the monitor.
I fixed the situation:
1 Open the ATI Catalyst Control Center software.
2. Click the 'Graphics' drop-down menu, then click on 'Desktops & Displays'.
3. Then click the small picture of a monitor at the bottom left of the window and click 'Configure'.
4. This will bring you to the 'DTV' options screen. From here you will see the 'Scaling Options' tab which is the 3rd tab from the left.
5. You can click 'Scaling Options' you will see the Underscan/Overscan slider to adjust/eliminate the black borders around the screen.
6. I set my slider to Zero.
I also needed to use the remote control's middle button in the 2nd row to resize the screen to a 16:9 aspect ratio HD picture. Many people are describing symptoms that are indicative of a default 4:3 aspect ratio. Use the remote to switch it for HDMI.

Comment: Overall a great monitor for the price.
If you want to have a good monitor and not pay a lot you will be happy with the ASUS.
Now I want to got eat a fish taco.
Notes:
Had to set the up the monitor to get the look I wanted.
Not noted in the manual: Had to set some video card settings to get it to go full screen
I have no idea why there are flowers on the bottom of the monitor.
In the low light of the edit bay they don't look like flowers.

Comment: I bought this a few weeks ago and so far I really like this monitor. The picture is sharp, the colors seem true, and in general it's a very high quality product.
I don't like the placement of the control buttons on the top because it means I have to stand up from my desk, but the inclusion of a remote makes that almost a non-issue.

Summary: Clear, bright, crisp + Great Price 2010-03-27
Comment: The ASUS MT276HE 27" monitor is a great value. The screen is bright and clear. The controls are easily understood, even intuitive. The speakers are very good for built-ins on a monitor. I just love the clicker which allows complete control over the screen, music, setting, etc. and is great when watching NetFlix online. There is a slot on the back of the monitor to stow the clicker, which is well done and quite cool. The screen is bigger than many of my TVs, so watching movies with a remote-controlled 27" monitor running on a Dell 1750 laptop is fun.
The only thing wrong with the monitor is the stand... I know, I know - a weak point to make. But the stand allows the monitor to sag this way and that a bit and is not well-engineered from a stability point-of-view.
It ran great right out-of-the-box with no setup required. It replaced a 27" Acer which was really quirky. Thus the Windows 7 ready features of quick start-up are appreciated.
SUMMARY: Great value, good product, clear, crisp... A+ You will not regret buying one.
