Summary: I liked it OK til it died 2008-12-13
Comment: We were very excited to get his to replace our old 19" VGA monitor. Over time, though, it became clear that the response time was on the slow side for gaming, and the color was a bit off for video watching. Then the backlight died after 8 months of regular use. I wouldn't recommend it.

Summary: Great Value 2007-12-16
Comment: I ordered this monitor at Amazon and have been using it for two weeks now.
I like it a lot.
The color on mine is very good, no dead pixels and the image is very sharp.
In the menu - not the best menu I've seen - there are a couple of presets you can quickly switch between (movie, text, user, graphics, standard) but I just keep it at one setting.
The built in speakers are a handy extra and they are nicely hidden out of sight, don't expect great sound quality though.
The positioning adjustments are very limited, just minimal tilt.
On a black screen there is some bleeding at the edges, but hardly noticable when watching a movie.
But what it should do, it does very well.
All in all I'm very pleased with it.

Summary: Trust The Reviews -- I'm Glad I Did! 2007-11-27
Comment: First the pros. There is a WEALTH of information from other reviewers on what a superb this monitor is, so I'll very quickly touch on what I love about this monitor.
Pros
----
>> This monitor is BRIGHT when the brightness is turned all the way up. The image quality is excellent on the native resolution of 1680 x 1050. Both text and images are sharp and the color rendering is good.
>> The monitor is HDCP-compliant so it is able to display encrypted audio/video digital content from HD-DVD, Blu-ray, or other media.
>> This monitor looks nice -- The very slim profile and a narrow bezel around the screen makes it very elegant.
Now the cons.
Cons
----
>> Backlight Bleeding
As many have noted, this monitor has a backlight bleeding problem. On my monitor, there is a slight glow on the bottom right edge of the screen noticeable only when the monitor is displaying very dark backgrounds/images. For me, it's not bothersome because the bleeding doesn't detract from the clarity and sharpness of the display.
>> Speakers Are A Joke, Right?
I can _barely_ hear the output from the speakers even with the volume cranked up all the way. So, if you're counting on the built-in speakers -- don't!
>> Monitor too bright
Some people have complained that the monitor is too bright even at the lowest setting. I don't find that to be a problem at all. But if I want to dim the monitor further, I have a utility that comes with my Nvidia graphics card to do so (the brightness can be brought right down to where the screen appears almost black) so check to see if your graphics card offers a similar utility. I must point out too that the brightness on LCD's (CRT's and Plasma's for that matter) will diminish over time so brightness is a good thing.
>> Limited adjustment on the monitor stand
This can be a biggie for some people, myself included. I got an
Ergotron LX Desk Mount Arm - mounting kit to mount the monitor on so I am now able to move/rotate the monitor every way imaginable -- thanks to the articulated mounting arm of the Ergotron.
>> Cannot be converted to HDTV
Sometimes refered to as 1080p, the HDTV mode has a screen aspect ratio of 16:9 and requires 1,080 lines of vertical resolution. Therefore the resolution required to support HDTV is 1920 x 1080 (ratio 1920:1080 = 16:9). This monitor maxes out at 1680 x 1050. Bummer.
Personally, I'm very happy with this monitor and I'd highly recommend it. However, the above are some important considerations so you might want to take into account before making a decision.

Summary: Nice clear monitor 2007-11-22
Comment: would buy again if need another one. Colors are crisp and screen is clear. Actually brighter than the 19" Samsung it replaces.
