I've worked as a newspaper photographer for the past 14 years and getting the photos ready for printing was a new learning experience. After doing a ton of research I picked the Eizo CG222 for my work. It's a great balance between cost and effectiveness. After painting the basement grey and getting everything ready to start adjusting my own photos, I whipped the Eizo out of the box, plugged it in and did the calibration with a Spyder and the built in program. The pictures look marvelous! Then I dragged a couple photos onto the laptop and they didn't look right. To experiment I sent the photos into my printer, ProDPI, for some 4 x 6 prints. The prints look exactly like the Eizo screen! My laptop was that far off target. I'm never trusting the laptop screen again for printing purposes. The Eizo costs a ton, but if you're making money from your prints, you have to invest in something like this.
